7 Habits of Highly Effective Accountants

Accountant is one of important person who plays the role for success of any person. So, there is big chance of success of accountant. But all do not get success as accountant because they do not have the 7 good habits. Absence of good habits, they surely get some bad habits. Because without habit, no one can live the life easily. For example, watchman of night duty will not do the duty if he will not make the habit of careful in night. Like this, any accountant can also learn all these 7 good habits of effective accountants.

1. Prepare for Future Problems

An effective accountants are very active. They prepare tomorrow before sleeping in the night. They prepare for next month budget. They prepare payment and record of everyday bills. They prepare for learning new amendments in accounting standards. They are pro-active in every function of accounting. They are ready to give better solution of every business problem through their accounting knowledge. There are few points, we can mention at here.

a) They do action before happening accounting problem.
b) They always see the main glass of car and also keep eye on past history glass before happening any accident.

2. Begin with Target

Everyday, effective accountant starts his or her work with a great goal. His or her mind will be focused on his or her goal. They do not think about his morning breakfast, afternoon lunch and night dinner. When they go to their business, they also carry their mind in the business not in home. If you do not have this habit, you can make this habit.

a) When you take first step from home, start to think about office work. Count 1 to 20 and it will be the list of goal of your today office work. Try this for one month. It will become your routine work.
b) For example, everyday when I get up and come to my office. I start to think to write new accounting article. So, begin from my target, what, when and how to write for what purpose.
c) You can fix your target, it may be position or it may be from financial point or view or it may be other.

(i) Goal - From Junior Accountant to Senior Accountant
(ii) Goal - From Earning 5 figure to 6 figure Earning per month as accountant. Means, if you are getting earning RS. 40,000, you may make the goal of getting earning of Rs. 1,00,000 per month.
(iii) Goal - Setting up your own business.

3.  Making of Better Time Management

Highly effective accountants make their better time management. They do important things first. With this, they complete their work effective way. Other accountant who are unsuccessful, do not do important work first. Without fixing priority of work, they do not success as accountant. For example, normal accountant just record the transaction but highly effective accountant manage the security before recording the transaction. What is the benefit if data will hack, misplace or lose.

4. Support Other Members of Accounting Department

Accounting work is team work. There are lots of player like account assistant, accounts executive, junior accountant, accounts clerk, computer operator, chief accountant, account manager, finance manager, other department managers and other employees. Highly effective accountants help all to get success. They try to best to train other. They feel happy when other get success. They are ready for giving the hand of support. If you feel jealous from other employee's success, you have to change this bad habit. You can change it.

See God accountant. He records everybody's good and bad works. But all those who pray the God and demand the help of God when they are in difficult situation, God helps them because we are the part of God, it means, God want to see happy to all.

If any accountant draws the leg of other employees due to ego or any other reason, it means, other will also follows him or her. They will also draw his leg and no one get success.

5. Habit of Learning and Teaching 

Highly effective accountants have great habit of learning first and then teaching. They give time to listen other. They try to share their knowledge. If any subordinate want to complain or to talk, good accountant will listen his complain or talk and then try to give his solution.

Sometime, other employee has innovative idea of accounting work. If you have the habit of listening, you will listen and it will increase your productivity. When you will share same knowledge, it will become easy for you

6. Work in Team

Take the example of our body. There are lots of organ. All work together just a team of human body. Every part of body helps to save other part. Every part of body has its special function. Heart pumps the body. Lungs helps the breathing., Kidney filter the body. Liver makes the blood. Brain control the body. So, we live 100 years without problem and a successful life. Highly effective accountants follows this natural habit and work in team. Divide whole work in small parts and appoint other for every work. Bad accountant does all work himself.

7. Increase the Knowledge 

Accounting area is changing everyday. New accounting software are coming in the market. New accounting standards are being made. New business are being made. So, for working on new accounting software, for working under new accounting standard or be prepare for new type of business, you have to increase knowledge through internet, books, blogs, websites, online courses, DVDs, CDS and online virtual schools and videos. Highly effective accountants try to best to increase the knowledge. So, they are successful.
