How to Make Credit Card in SBI

Recently, I had to pay for foreign services. Service provider wants his payment through my credit card online. I had not credit card but account in my Indian SBI (State bank of India). So, I did approach to my friend who is working in SBI. He introduced an employee of SBI who manage credit card. So, I talk him and know whole procedure in my own and simple local language.


To make credit card in SBI is so simple and most Indian do not know its procedure. Due to this, they do not get foreign specialize services for growing own business. So, this content is being written for Indians who want to get credit Card in SBI. I think, all other public banks in India may be same procedure for getting credit card.




1st Step : To Make Your FD in SBI

Any payment which is done by credit card is the loan by bank to you on your fixed deposit. So, you have to fixed deposit in bank. Minimum amount of FD must be Rs. 20,000. On 20,000, you can get loan of 70% which you can use for payment or buying through this card. If you have FD of Rs. 1,00,000, you can get 80% of its limit for using fund through your credit card. After getting credit card, your FD become the security of given loan by bank. You will not convert FD in cash before clearing all funds which you have paid through credit card.

2nd Step : Fill the Form of Apply for Credit Card with Required Documents

Just go to SBI branch where is this facility and fill the form of apply for credit card with required documents whose list, I am giving below.


  • Your residence proof
  • Your identity proof
  • PAN card photocopy
  • Your Saving Account Passbook Photocopy
  • Your FD photocopy
  • One Snap
Within a week, your credit card will be made by SBI and will send in your address. 

Before making the credit card, you must know following important things relating to this. 


What is Credit Card of SBI?

It is the card, with this, you get the facility to use the loan by SBI to you which is free of interest upto one month. 

What is Credit Card Fees?

You have to pay annual fees of use credit card which is Rs. 560.

Is there interest on Credit Card Payment?

Yes, if your saving account have no money to repay credit card payments within a month, you have to pay 14% to 18% on the payments which you have done through credit card. 

What is benefit of EMI Facility in Credit Card?

With this, you have to pay less interest on credit card payments. 


How to Stop the Credit Card Facility?

There is the small code backside of Credit card. You have to call at same number and request for stop the credit card facility. With this, your credit card facility will be stopped. For 10 days, you will not get the cash of FD which is given a security against credit card. After clearing all your payment from saving account and FD, balance amount, you will get. If you want to get your FD fastly, you have to talk gurgaon customer care of SBI and told that your all credit card payment are cleared from your saving account balance, so please stop lien of FD. 

Is there any Extra Charges except credit card payment?

Yes, If there is no amount in saving amount for paying back credit card payment to SBI, you will pay the interest to SBI. If you bounce your given payment. At that time, SBI will not pay to the party. So, you will get your paid fund. For this, bank will take the bounce charges from your saving fund. 

Which Forex Rate will apply on Credit Card Payment?

On the date when you have paid amount through credit card.
